About the Author Manheim Wagner has spent the majority of his life in fear of having a full-time, nine-to-five job. Originally from Levittown, Pennsylvania, he worked a steady stream of dead-end jobs before taking his first leap into the unknown in 1997, when he ended up teaching English in South Korea and nurturing his desire for exploration. Since then, he has lived in such countries as Australia, Scotland, Vietnam and Japan. He currently resides in Málaga, Spain.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. eloquently written story that sticks with you afterwards By Beverly Clark I downloaded this book as I was looking for a shorter read on a quiet Friday night. I don't think the full impact of the story or the author's writing ability really registered until awhile after I finished reading. This is a fairly fast read but it is rich with detail. The author has his finger on the pulse of relationships. Taking us through what may be a somewhat ordinary day in the reconnection of two people, this story while simple is also hauntingly special as it captures that still new relationship feeling, the feeling of not being good enough, of hope and of the future. I was very pleased with this novella.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Romanticism is Still Alive By Terrence Deagle What a Day for a Night is an excellent story built around the foundation of two memorable characters. Simone from France is slender, sensual, subtle and savoir-faire but lacks self confidence. This may partly be attributed to the walking dead-end relationship and job she has and the notion that she thinks she is crazy. In spite of these drawbacks, she has grace and a smooth "joie de vivre " that Edith Piaf could only lust after. Truly, Simone's intellect, mastery of conversation, and knowledge of art and film coupled with her physical beauty make for an intriguing character. Her counterpart, James, from the United States is truly unique in that he opts out of the American dream of money, wealth and power. Instead, he is more noble, dignified and places a higher value on sound relationships and trust. Perhaps, this novella is more honest in its presentation of how a man and a woman can become engrossed in each other over the course of an evening in Paris. Tragically, however, it is all for not as both characters continue on with their own difficult journey in life. Surely, What a Day for a Night should pierce any romantic's heart and remind us that we are all human.

By cc2015 If you're looking for a book that can be easily finished in one sitting (maybe in a waiting room or perhaps on a daily commute), this is one that you have to pick up! It's not really your conventional romance but elements of a great romantic plot are definitely there. I really like how the pacing in this book worked--not too slow, and the paragraph breaks and chapter breaks occurred often enough to keep the storyline going. I also felt like we really got to know Simone and James in this short piece! Great work of fiction, worth the time.
