This book will get me to make one for myself.The idea is to sew a quilt top and then cut it up and resew it together. This allows you to sew easy blocks but when you are all done, it looks like you made blocks that are more complicated. For example, one of the quilts is made up of whole squares and 4-patch blocks. Easy to sew those type of blocks. Then you cut it per the instructions and resew the three pieces together. When you are done, you have blocks set on point without having to figure out the size of the edge triangles.Plus, each of the six projects can be set three different ways. Now you have 18 quilted items you can make. The authors suggest you number the sections before cutting so you know which one goes where. Good idea as this numbering will let you make sure you are sewing the right pieces together again.The written instructions include material and cuttings lists which are easy to follow. There are lots of graphics with the written words so you will be able to follow what they are saying. They do not give quilting suggestions but let you decide.With four quilts and two runners, I can’t wait to get started."I received a free or discounted product in exchange for providing an unbiased review."

About the Author

Aben Kandel was an American novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of Vaudeville, Black Sun, and Rabbi Burns. He was known for the screenplay I Was a Teenage Werewolf.

Interesting window on early 20th-century NYC, peopled by shallow characters By David Rolfe "City for Conquest" opens as the Panic of 1907 winds down, introducing the characters as a collection of children, covering the geography and social/economic strata of New York City. It follow the characters over the next decades as they grow up and intersect, each in his or her own way seduced by the glamour and opulence of the great city, and each in quest of "conquest". It's a lifelike and readable look at how the city functioned, capturing both the functional production (factories, transport, finance, etc) as well as the social dysfunction and corruption that greased the wheels of politics and commerce (the boys at the top of the pile are shown having ascended by less than honest means). The book seems to rise above a simple agenda of editorializing on capitalism or the like; however it is so intently focused on exposing the troubled side that the characters seem to bend under the will of the author, rather than growing and acting as fully-fleshed individuals. This dramatic weakness dampened my potential to enjoy the story. But if you want a view of a vanished world from one who was there (Aben Kandel was born in 1897 and wrote this book in 1936; he would be approximately the age of his principle characters), this book is worth picking up. Good to have it back in print. (I read an older copy, so I can't testify to whether this new edition is an accurate rendering.)

Genre-bending, Gender-smashing Brilliance and Beauty By Garrett Zecker The weight of an author’s message often depends on the weight of the execution with the medium in which it is communicated. In the light hundred and six pages of Queer on a Bench, Lindberg’s Em bravely and whimsically explores the heaviest of topical internal exploration. Em wades through a world deeply mired in philosophical questions of gender, childhood sexual identity, maturity, work, relationships, queer-ness, religion, and many other aspects of existence that at times hinge on a single word weighed down by hundreds of years of cultural baggage.This book triumphantly dances around medium on the page, at times reading like a confessional memoir of our narrator, while other times it muses poetically, and then transforms into a stage play. What is fascinating is how Lindberg manages to weave through genres as effortlessly as Em meditatively weaves through the passing crowd’s identities. Rarely do we see such organized, sequential, brilliantly scripted thought in such a short, beautifully transformative work.As I read, I laughed as often as I found myself pausing to meditate on a single sentence, and perhaps the most amazing part of the book is the weight that Lindberg has heaped in so few pages in Em’s musings of sexuality and identity in a single life. It truly is a gorgeous little book, and left room to open many of my own questions about my relationship with myself, my gender, my lovers, and the world.I have already recommended this to three of my friends, and likewise extend it to you.

By Alastair McKinley I once have a Japanese visitor and I was so astounded on how he swept the lawn when he saw it full of clutter, that's when I knew that Japanese culture are mostly focused on being clutter free and thought on how it should be applied on our every home to practice minimalism and make our home presentable and comfortable with every visitor.Having to finish this book gave me the great ideas on how to simply organized everything in my home and declutter every rooms. It gave me a sense of orderly and cleanliness and the motivation to organized everything, clean up and tidy every minute thing in my home. The tips provided on this are sure helpful and I do appreciate how the author discussed every room and nook in a house and what needs to be done to maximize space and make it more spacious. This book is a must in every home.

I TRULY, REALLY NEEDED THIS!I would gladly suggest anyone who is as messy as me to read this and get organized. Seriously, I’ve got Japanese immigrant neighbors and when I enter their house I can’t believe how they keep it so clutter-free and yet very elegant. De-cluttering my house is like magic to me. It was enlightening to realize how and why Japanese have less clutter than us. That's why out of so many other books on this topic, I decided to buy this one; because I see the Japanese organization and neatness - everyday.It was really easy for me to follow this book because the different parts of the house are explained very easily, i.e. how to organized those parts (like the garage, hall, closets etc). I mostly needed my office area arranged. It is always so messy, its seems to me like I take hours to do something that can be done in minutes.An outstanding guide for me!

The “chaotic” environment of my apartment is probably the reason why I always feel stressed even though I’m just lying on the sofa. I purchased this book with the hopes that I may finally change the way I manage my apartment. I’ve read the book and it’s really packed with useful tips and concepts on how to maximize the “good vibes” of your house. You’ll be surprised that even a simple arrangement of your bedroom can lower down stress. I highly recommend this book!

It has pictures so you can see what your work should hopefully look like and several patterns at the end of the book to try out your new skills on. This was a great refresher for me and I think anyone looking to crochet for the first time will have no trouble following it. Instructions are clearly illustrated and explained beautifully.

It concentrates on a family on P.E. Island and the various adventures of the young band of cousins growing up together. If you recall the old Disney Channel show "Avonlea", this book is where most of the main characters originated, with some name changes.

I think the ending is very sad, the realisation that we all have to grow up, and the hints we are given about the future of the characters we have grown to love. I was near tears reading about cecily, and the ending seemed so final. We can never return to our childhood, but we can remember the good times in reading this book. Whereas the Story Girl, although a fascinating book, is, in reality, little more than a stringing together of many stories, in this book the characters are properly developed.

By Jess The Golden Road and its prequel, The Story Girl, are two of the best books I have ever read. I never seem to get tired of them, either...I have read them countless times! If you enjoy L. M. Montgomery's novels, such as the Anne of Green Gables series, these books are a must. The Golden Road tells the story of cousins, Beverley (who narrates the story), Felix, Cecily, Felicity, Dan, and Sara Stanley, also known as the Story Girl, plus their friends Peter, the hired boy, and Sara Ray. The adventures these eight have are sometimes exiting, sometimes sad...but mostly really funny! For instance, one time, they have the governors wife to tea...but they think she's their deaf Aunt Eliza and comment on the governors big nose and such things! And Felicity accidentally bakes tooth-powder rusks...oh, I can't tell you the whole book! Read it for yourself!

By Jean Baldridge Yates Jewelry Designs with Knitted Wire, Explore the Possibilities is a totally energizing design book full of surprises and creativity. Author Nealay Patel is a popular designer and instructor well-known for his terrific creativity. One look at this book, and the reader will understand how original and fun trying projects which include knitted wire can be!There are thirty two projects to choose from, each one as beautiful and wild as the next. Color is realized as a major player in design. An organic feel is also strongly evident. As the author says, "I purposely did not sketch too much, in order to keep my projects very spur-the-moment--I think this kept things interesting". It certainly did.In the introduction, it is explained that there are several lines (or types) of knitted wire, including hollow, flat, capture, and leather. These are all represented in the projects in very inventive ways. Brand new techniques are also applied to knitted wire. Always, the author's great love of beads of all sorts, from seed beads to chunky and funky beads is on display, which is part of the fascination of each project offered. Colorful knitted wire and colorful beads? What could be better!There is a very clear section on the basics covering what you will need to make the projects. Your tool kit, materials needed, and techniques are all nicely explained. You will be seed beading, stringing, making wire scrolls, and having a blast as you create with knitted wire.The projects follow. What brilliant takes on necklaces, earrings and bracelets! Get ready for haute, gallery-style designs. Each one of these beauties is jaw-droppingly stunning. The author pulls out all the stops in this exploration of knitted wire. They are an opulent blend of magenta, orange and sea green beads combined with bronze hollow knitted wire in a punchy, yet airy design which will bring out the flirt in you. Note the cool technique work here: the beads are sewn onto the knitted wire, which is looped into an open drop shape using exposed fluorite colored beading wire.If you relate to totally cool designs, there are plenty in Jewelry Designs with Knitted Wire!I was knocked flat by the "Suncatcher" bracelet. This project scintillates with its color combinations of beads in gold, blue and violet as well as sparkling crystals. The knitted wire base is purple. The design is super pretty and highly textural. In the "tip" included with this project, the author suggests expanding on the instructions to make your own version of a necklace or earrings to go along with the bracelet. Making variations is a great idea for any of the designs, as they are all outstanding.The "Mighty Rivers" necklace is yet another fascinating and compelling project.Lampwork beads, crystal beads, and seed beads are mixed organically. The palette includes deep beige, sea foam and gray. Lapis colored beading wire is also used along with capture knitted wire in a color called "fall". This exquisite necklace would be perfect worn anywhere. It positively glows!There is a beautiful little collection in the gallery at the end of the book. However, the projects are just as terrific.Knitted wire has been around for a while, but you have never seen anything like this book. I usually don't do wirework but Nealay's designs will be a welcome addition to my usual beadwork. Attention to detail is very evident in each of the pieces.Lots of times I see interesting new materials, but don't really know what to so with them... Well, with the help of "Knitted Wire", I have lots of inspiration as well as instruction on technique. This book will appeal to both beads and wireworkers.

The artist displayed the pieces he made and I was impressed. They are really attractive. . I've already completed one project from the book. The designs are a lot of fun and seem easy to accomplish without advanced skills. The earrings I made in about an hour and I am on to a necklace now.There are a lot of projects in this book to try. The directions are simple to read.This book uses Silversilk brand knitted wire which is exceptionally easy to work with. I cut it with my kitchen scissors and it didn't fray at all. With the exception of the Silversilk and branded findings, everything else can be found at your local bead store or craft store. He uses a variety of beads from big box craft stores but you can use almost any type of beads in these projects. Only two drawbacks to talk about: he first is that the projects themselves were really more attractive in person than in the book. I was lucky to get to see them. I know, it is usually the opposite of this. I literally wanted to buy them all. The second is that my local bead shop only carries a small selection of the colors available in the Silversilk so I will need to buy some additional colors and findings online.After my initial project, I am looking forward to making both my daughters a project from the book for a Christmas gift. Overall, I give this book 4 stars and recommend it to anyone who likes to make stylish jewelry with a minimum of hassles. I'd give it 5 stars for technique but it falls a bit short because it doesn't show most of the finished jewelry hanging or draped as it would be in use. Still, that's a small thing and I am glad I made the purchase.

By MATY I read a lot of MC books and most of them seam a little unreal with big invincible alpha male and a lot of damsels in distress, but Lauren Gilley's characters are so real, the dialog, the story line, they just flow, like real life, all characters have a vulnerability and strength at the same time, and the story is not about drugs, guns, MC war, power or sex scenes, is about real problems like finding a job, following a career, being a parent, finding true love, every day problems with an extraordinary touch that comes with being part of a MC with a dark side, so, if you are fan of this genre this is a must read series, you will truly become an spectator of other peoples life, at least that's how Gilley's writing style makes you feel.

Has very good quality of various pictures of Japanese fairy tales, myths and ancient tales of Japan. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. The artist has very good skills of drawing. I did not purchase this book. I won it in a contest.I also have the coloring book called Christmas and Winter Holidays 2016. This book is from the same author and it is an amazing holiday book. Lots of fantastic pictures of the holidays and winter themes. Skill level for coloring is for anyone to enjoy. This book I highly recommend to people wanting to color. I am thrilled to have this book. I did not buy this. I won this book and seriously appreciate it.

The art work is authentic looking and reminiscent of classic silk paintings. The characters are so well developed they seem to come to life on the page while telling their story. The images have many details and intricate nuances that should appeal to even an expert colorist. If you love Japanese folk and fairy stories or enjoy classic Japanese art and silk paintings you will love this collection of pages.

The draws are easy to color but they still detail-oriented...there's a combination of childhood and adulthood in it and I really like it. I adore the page with the genie making a wish on the star of a Christmas tree. I am planning of finish coloring this book in a week. It gets me so into the Xmas spirit.
