By Elizabeth Eaton This novelette by Michael Baron draws the reader in immediately and immerses the reader in a warm, wonderful blanket. This is not a sicky sweet read though. It has substance, real characters and a plot that is perfectly drawn. Reece Rubato, a five year old who has endured so much in his short life, believes in Santa, Frosty and miracles and we are drawn into his world, as he copes with the loss of his mother. I love this little book. It's message of hope and love will stay with me. I can see myself rereading this book every year to remind me that miracles unseen by most of us, can still happen. Highly recommended!

I liked it so much I am reading When You Went Away. A Winter Discovery is the sequel to When You Went Away. I got both books either free and very inexpensive. I am very excited to have found another author who I enjoy very much!

It's a lovely, humoristic and tender insight into both the parents' and a child's mind around Christmas time.It felt a bit however like the beginning of a longer story, or it could have been. As it stands, my only complaint is it is a bit "thin".
