About the Author I live in Mexico City and am married with three children. Prior to becoming an academic I worked as a passenger boat captain in Boston, a staffer in the US House of Representatives, and a Washington lobbyist. I have a PhD from the London School of Economics and have done a lot of academic publishing in the areas of international relations and political science. I've also published a short story (The Metronome), and my travel writing has appeared in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, and elsewhere. I lecture occasionally at the University of Havana during visits to my distant Cuban family.

It's not really a mystery, more of a travelogue with a near love story thrown in. The depictions of Cuba are fantastic though, at times you almost feel you are there.
