By Charla Amazing Lace by Sharon Mooney and Cheryl Potter is just that, amazing!The thirteen beautiful lacy patterns range from simple to fairly advanced so there is something for every knitter no matter the skill level. You can really build your lace skills with this book, it's like sitting at the knit shop with Sharon in the chair next to you. If you want to try lace you need this book.What makes this book shine for me are the Designer and Dyer Perspectives with each pattern and the Lessons scattered throughout the book. I’ve never considered why the designer chose that weight, type or colorway of yarn. Does it really matter if it’s striped, splotched, tonal, short or long color repeats? Can I knit lace with it all? The answer is yes, it all depends on the design.The Lessons start with choosing the yarn and correct needle size, the importance of swatching, and how to measure gauge. There is a great lesson on making and picking up wraps and turns, with very detailed clear photos of both the knit and purl sides. You’ll never have unintended holes again! Markers, lifelines, and M1’s are all discussed with clear descriptions and photos, as are many other tips and techniques, as well as how to work from a chart.Of course since it’s Sharon Mooney you learn how to add beads and add some bling and sparkle to your life! I can't wait to cast on several of these beautiful patterns.
