About the Author Born and raised on a farm outside of the small Kansas town of Clyde, I have been telling and writing stories for as long as I can remember and according to my family, even before. They claim that not long after I learned to talk, they would pull my highchair up to the kitchen table and I would regale them with tales of talking animals and barnyard shenanigans. At 19, I bought a guitar and moved to Nashville to learn the art of a different type of storytelling, songwriting. Kicking around in the music scene for several years, I sustained myself with jobs ranging from teaching classes about blenders, to donning a hoop skirt and giving tours of a Civil War Mansion, to selling tickets to traveling Broadway Shows. The only thing that stays the same in life is that it constantly changes and as mine did, I found myself headed west to Colorado. Refocusing on a writing career, I have spent the last couple of years churning out short stories and writing and revising my debut novel, The Sky After the Rain. Though it disappointingly does not include any talking animals, I think it is still pretty good!

It’s been such a long time since I’ve read something that lived and breathed off the page even when the words weren’t right in front of me. One line in particular even stays with me now. “They lived big lives for such a small town.” Lindsay Bergstrom’s writing is just that…big and powerful, but artfully masked behind characters that aren’t larger than life, but that I could relate to – not because I’ve ever met anyone like them before, but because I want to be lucky enough to do so. “The Sky After The Rain” is so many things, that all I can think to do is say what it isn’t. It isn’t a trivial story with a predetermined ending that you will see coming. It isn’t a fast-paced read where you want to scan past the imagery and the honest, believable descriptions of its multifaceted characters. It isn’t a tangle of chapters that are forgettable and numbing. Instead, it is full of beautiful insights, heartbreaking realities, and familiar life lessons. It is absolutely everything a great book should be. Buy it. Read it. And keep an eye on the amazingly talented Lindsay Bergstrom. She’s the real deal – an author who truly understands the art of storytelling and whose words will have an impact long after you’ve read the very last page.

With such wonderful visuals and realistic characters, I immediately felt like I was right there in Flynn with Ava, anxious to find out what her decision was going to be. I thought I'd figured out how it would all end, only to be second-guessing myself part way through. I wasn't even sure how I actually WANTED it to turn out! I promise you will find yourself thinking about Ava, Pode, Ellis and the others throughout the day, wanting to get back to the story to see what happens next. Congratulations Lindsay! The book is fantastic, and I am so proud of you!
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fan-freaking-tastic! By Maria Ortiz This book is soooo good! I couldn't put it down and read it in two days and then I couldn't shut up about it! Such an original story, town and characters. The writer is fantastic at painting the scene. You feel like you are there and know these people. I LOVE Pode! I want to make a shirt that says "Team Pode"! Why you ask?....read the book! :) It is one of my favorite books and always will be!
