About the Author Kelly Fletcher is a freelance copy editor and self-taught (but genetically predisposed) needlework designer. She spent three and a half years in London where she founded Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. She now lives in Johannesburg where she publishes digital magazine The Stitch & Thimble and manages her website www.kellyfletcher.co.uk and online shops on Etsy and Craftsy.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Happily-fulfilled anticipation By Amazon Customer I just received my copy today and couldn't wait to look through it. The pictures and instructions clearly demonstrate each project and result in a beautiful book, so I wasn't disappointed. I've enjoyed Ms. Fletcher's original designs for quite a while. At first glance, they appear inexplicably rich but simple. Closer examination illustrates how Ms. Fletcher combines stitches and techniques to achieve the depth and texture that results in that richness. I think the apparent simplicity of her designs relies on regular and well-made stitches for their beauty. Ms. Fetcher is obviously a master needleworker. I've been embroidering for over thirty years and have yet to achieve the evenness and beauty of her stitches. I would have appreciated her comments about how to handle difficult design elements such as a sharp point or a tight turn in a line of stitching. Although Ms. Fletcher's book contains a visual guide of the stitches used, it has minimal embroidery instructions for each design. For that reason, I think a beginning embroiderer would have little success with these designs initially, but could use the book as a source of inspiration and goals. Incidentally, I would love to see a book show the back of a piece of embroidery. That way readers could see more clearly the spacing and construction of the stitches Regardless, it is a beautifully illustrated book of wonderful original designs.

I just moved across the country from Texas to New York and have been trying hard to get my sewing room unpacked and back up and running. This book is just what I needed for inspiration and motivation! I love Kelly's designs, they're so fresh and have just the right mix of simple and sophisticated, not fussy. As usual, very good instructions and the photos are beautiful.
