What a blast to be coloring again (it has been well over 30 years...ahem). The book was a gift which was accompanied by some pencils and a lot of question marks from me. But now I totally get it! I delighted in filling in every nook and cranny, carefully selecting my colors and creating my own holiday magic. It was like yoga for my brain - I could think of nothing else and it was fantastic and oddly refreshing. Who knew coloring equals total decompression?! I have now answered the question of what will I include in my holiday gift baskets for clients - Suzanna's wonderful coloring books, which will be totally unique and unexpected! Check. Check. Added bonus will be having these books to share at my family holiday gatherings - great way to get everyone involved in doing something together. Suddenly kicking off the holidays in November doesn't feel so bad, actually feels great - and quite colorful!!
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Perfect seasonal gift, probably for a wide range of ages By Jennifer Flower I just got this book as a gift and now, suddenly, I'm a colorer! I'm not even much of a holiday decorator. There's a perfect combination of whimsy and difficulty in these designs that lift any self consciousness or judgment that I may possibly have had and invite me into a serene, meditative state as I color. It's very satisfying. I never even thought I'd like doing it! I got another of Stinnett's books, Hidden Realms, which is similar in effect, but quite different in design. I don't know how she does it, but I don't worry about making a mistake, I just seem to use a creative part of my brain that is often crowded out by everything else in my day. I'm planning to give this as a gift to some friends this season and doing them together, and I would normally not have thought of this kind of gift before. But then I hadn't thought of it for myself either. It would probably be great for family events because the designs are kind of timeless and very approachable and fun.
