The author had a good way of taking a lot of 'real life' events and weaving them together into an easy to read, yet captivating, novel that leaves you wondering what happens next. I like the way even the 'side' characters are developed...it adds depth to the story.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful, Hard to Put Down!! By equimec I enjoyed "Cowgirl is a State of Mind" so much that I recently finished reading it AGAIN!!! For me that's always the sign of a GOOD book. It's like moving among good friends again. Ms. Hartman is an excellent story teller and I always find it refreshing to read work from an author who actually KNOWS and understands horses. I enjoyed following these characters and the interesting twists and turns of their lives. Made me laugh and cry! I'm also looking forward to more - there's more coming, right? Anyone looking for a good gift for the cowgirl in their life needs to pick this and put a bow on it!

By nitzie The best way to describe why I loved this book is because I was instantly interested in the characters, couldn't wait to get back to reading it when I wasn't and didn't want this book to end. The writing allowed me to see and feel the landscape. It also deepened my understanding about horses and their relationships with each other and us two legged folks! Well done, Laurie! Can't wait to read your next novel!
