I could almost taste it By Jenny Rose As I follow Grace Bridges and have subscribed to her e-letters, Strawberry Dreaming came up as a prologue freebie. I’ve already read The Dog With No Name and my interest was already piqued. I read expecting Mariah to fully describe the strawberry as she bit into it. Even in such a short story, Bridges drew me in and I felt like I was biting into thin air myself. These shorts that she puts out for her followers are like bread crumbs, whetting my appetite for more.

Sweet and yet dystopian - just right By Teddi Deppner The setting of this story is a world where something has happened to stop plants from growing and people are going hungry. A treat as simple and sweet as a strawberry is nearly impossible to find. That, along with hints of other world problems, got me imagining what it would be like. The author has a way with words and there's some pure poetry in the descriptions here and there.She knows how to paint the drudgery and angst of office workers, and that awkward time when you aren't sure how a friend feels about you -- or how you feel about them. What happens to the characters themselves is nearly as bittersweet as the dream of the strawberry. An enjoyable bite-sized piece of fiction, and I like getting to know this dystopia a bit more with each story. I don't have a lot of time to read, and these shorter pieces are just right for reading over lunch.

Mariah's prologue the fourth By Cathrine Bonham In this story we finally get to meet Mariah, a young office worker in a dystopian Belfast.I loved the voice and flow of this narrative. Her thoughts about work and her immature co-workers were so true no matter your job or the era you live in.To escape this mundane existance Mariah takes to daydreaming, you guessed it, about better times and a strawberry she once held. As Mariah dreams about the once lush countryside, some of the backstory of this desolate future is revealed. That plus the use of the title character, in my option, makes this a true Prologue. Once the book Mariah's Dream releases I have a feeling I will be glad I read this story.
