About the Author Jack Deadmen is the author of Nobody Special: The Death of Johnny Salinger, and its follow-up prequel, Nobody Special: Cursed is the Road to the American Dream. He has penned one stage play (Redemption) and nine screenplays (including Wheatfield with Crows, co-written with director Brent Roske). He is the founder of A Raven Desk Tome, and co-founder of Dystopian Pictures. A former member of the Working Filmmaker's Group (Hollywood) and the American Federation of Film Producers (Los Angeles), he has been a member of the Screen Actor's Guild since 1993. Jack Deadmen is most notably a member of the SoCal-based underground poet society "Canaries in the Mine." Born in Southern California, he currently lives near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is married and has two daughters.

Jack Deadmen penned the best prequel ever prequeled By JPAL Nothing I have read has begged for a prequel more than Nobody Special: The Death of Johnny Salinger. To me, Nobody Special necessitates this prequel - Cursed is the Road to the American Dream. And if you read Nobody Special and yearned for a backstory, like I did, our wish is Deadmen's command.Authoring through changing time periods and changing characters throughout the book, Deadmen nails it. You, the reader, is privileged to be able to see images, think thoughts, and feel emotions of various characters, all of which are intertwined in an anarchic, unstable, punk-rock lifestyle. If you've lived that lifestyle yourself, you will undoubtedly relate to the characters, and they will relate to you. Maybe you have never had such a lifestyle, but you're curious. Well there's no better book to live out your vicarious wonder. Punk-rock chaos at its peak. Maybe you're not interested in said way of life at all, but you appreciate brilliant writing, which is exactly what Cursed is the Road to the American Dream is - A brilliant, heavy, intriguing, disturbing, warming, dark, wild ride of a story that has skyrocketed its way up my list of all-time favorites.Now go read it. Oh, and good luck putting it down.
