About the Author Marcus bird is a writer, filmmaker and photographer who was born in Kingston Jamaica. He is the author of three books including the coming of age tale Sex, Drugs & Jerk Chicken, the faced-paced Tokyo novel Naked As The Day and contemporary Jamaican story, Kingston Nights. He keeps a regular web presence with his video series Birdimus Presents on youtube and showcases his art and photographs from his travels both locally and internationally through his author website http://www.marcuskbird.com and through his instagram account @birdimusprime.

A man must make a move...in search of sweet satisfaction By Erskwords Kingston Nights drew me into the world of Indy; a man who is known and in-the-know when it comes to having a good time in Kingston, Jamaica. However, for as much excitement that is generated around him, he feels empty, distant, alone. But then he meets Berlin and a zest for life re-enters the void that he has created for himself and Indy is unprepared for the effect that Berlin has on him and the repercussions of allowing himself a taste of something so sweet.This read to me like the last chance of a tortured man to find genuine happiness and I liked the sort of "seediness" that his daily life entailed. Indy felt like a lost soul, a wayward friend, that I wanted to reach out to and help but could only watch as he spiraled deeper into disorder. But what a vivid and beautiful disorder it is! The parties were my parties, adorned with familiar faces and situations and real life dancehall culture icons that one would expect to come across in these settings. Kingston came alive in the form of a sinister social beast, never satisfied, no matter how much you fed it your inhibitions. And yet salvation takes the form of one of her patrons, a woman who sees me when I can't see myself. I have my own Berlins (pretty faces and slim waists of various international flavors), and this book took me back to those delicious interludes of my twenties wherein I sought something sweet too.

By Amazon Customer A MAN WRAPPED ME WITH HIS WORDS ON PAPER THEN LEFT ME WANTING MORE.... Marcus I LOVE this book .. I read it again .. your discription of a typical Kingston Night have me reminiscing of the party life that I loved to miss and hate to miss.. you hit it on the nail. As someone said in a review earlier ..A MAN MUST MAKE A MOVIE... (I would so pay to see it)I was so drawn in from jump I was with Indie for the whole ride , there were moments I wish I could jump in the pages and safe him from himself .. I fell in love with this man this was the guy I wanted to call my own back when I was growing up ... may be I was a "captain-save-a-hoe" and I liked broken things, I like fixing them up ... Indie would have been perfect .I knew back in prep school you were good at story telling (u did the best comic strip drawings)now you are Fantastic at storytelling. Keep it up I'm so proud of you!!!AMAAZZIINNNGGG BOOK. Now I'm off to start on "Sex,Drugs&Jerkchicken" can't wait .!!!!Thank youLatoya "Toyasassy" McDonald

The book tells the story of a young man named Indie, who is a well-known guy in the party scene of Kingston. Behind the face of endless parties, long nights of drinking and nights spent with nameless girls, you see a broken man searching for somebody to help him getting out of the big black hole in which he is trapped. As I was reading, the book took me deeper into the sad past and the bad experiences of the young man. The author describes the feelings and the thoughts of the main character very well, so you get a great view of Indie’s inner side. When he meets a girl named Berlin, his dark feelings partly vanish and a light rises in his grey and cold life. I also liked the conversations and the atmosphere between Indie and Berlin. In my opinion the story is very touching and fascinating and I especially liked the fact, that meeting a special person, can change one’s feelings, thoughts and views in such a great way.
