Before you even think about gardening in South Florida you should read The Art of South Florida Gardening. It is pleasant conversational reading, loaded with practical and very interesting info. The presentation is straight forward, often humorous and holds your attention. Experienced and beginning gardeners alike will benefit from reading this gift from cover to cover! Keep a pencil handy to star and jot in the generous margins as you come upon the many pearls of wisdom -some that may surprise you! I am a New England Master Gardener with much experience and have suddenly been blessed (?) with an old Florida garden (jungle) to oversee. I LOVED this book for what it is meant to be....a prelude to making informed decisions and a guide to help avoid costly or damaging mistakes. It is not, nor meant to be,an end-all gardening book. There are delightful line drawings and no pretty color photos (those are for later when you are actually shopping!)..but it will send you off in all the right directions with confidence,excitement and a smile.

Compared to other garden books, even very good ones, this book is a joy to read for the novice gardener up to those who are experienced gardeners. This book creates a standard for other garden books to be judged.
