Cherry Lips: A Chick-lit Fairytale By Janie Dills Being a Leger fan, I wasn't quite sure of what to expect from Ms. Dearie's venture into the fairytale realm. As for me, I honestly had trouble putting it aside for more than a few moments because I was simply entranced by the story. And this story leaves just enough information @ the end to interest me in reading the second installment. I really loved that there were parts of this fairytale that required use of my own imagination to conclude how/why something was mentioned. (All the cats running around the castle, is Cerise's mother really still alive & will she ever get to meet her, etc.) Isn't that why most of us love to read though? But I'm sure, with @ least one more book planned, most will be revealed. If you like a little magic laced with a bit more of an adult bent than the Leger Series, I think you will enjoy this book!

Amazing characters, hilarious, witty By Majanka Cherry Lips is a whimsical, romantic, hilarious fairytale with the strangest bunch of characters you could’ve ever imagined. Our main character, Cerise, is an apprentice herbalist who happens to be the manufacturer of a cherry lip-stain that is anything but ordinary: it’s an aphrodisiac that makes the wearer irresistible. When the queen finds out about this magic lip-stain, she wants it for herself, and to use it to seduce her husband so they can have a child.In order to retrieve the lip-stain, she sends her brother-in-law to befriend Cerise and spy on her. But that decision might backfire when Blaxton falls head over heels for Cerise…And what ensues is a hilarious tale of cats, magic and fairy godmothers who aren’t at all like how you’d expect a fairy godmother to be like.The characters are amazing, especially Cerise. The world-building is solid and fun, without being too complicated, and it allows the reader to easily dive into the story. If you like stories with a whimsical side, you’ll love Cherry Lips. This is yet another magic love story that I have thoroughly enjoyed By Rachel Noel This is yet another magic love story that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Seriously, I may have to reconsider my "no love stories" policy after this. What I specifically enjoyed about Cherry Lips is how much fun it was to read. The dialogue and character interactions were engaging and, at times, had me laughing out loud. There were a couple places where I felt like something bad could have been prevented, but it was not enough to take me out of the book.The adventure is fast paced, after the prologue, and I was never bored while reading. The side-effects of magic are not only considered, but are essential to the story and growth of the Cerise's character. The book does leave me with a number of questions and even more suspicions, but, fortunately Dearie has written the sequel (which is currently on my wishlist) so I will be able to get my questions answered.Cherry Lips is a good read for anyone who wants a funny story, a magic story, a love story, and/or a fairy tale. All of these elements are combined in a fun way to engage the reader.
