By Ula Zarosa I am not a big fan of drama literature but I’ve decided to try Stanley’s book since I'd very much loved his short story “Buried in Memory” from “Compendium” (you should check it out!). “Elizabeth Green” is first of all amazingly written. Stanley has a lightness in his writing which you can simply call a writing talent. So no matter the plot the words keep you captivated from the first lines. I wish I could write like that. Anyways Elizabeth Green is a really beautiful and sad story with a very good narration, well described surroundings and a bunch of surprises inside. It’s a gentle and modest kind of writing, that you’ll definitely enjoy if you want to relax with a book that is thought through, smart and fresh. I also very much liked the explanation about author’s inspirations that you can find at the end of the book. I can definitely recommend it.

Rumors suggest his uncle's house is a dangerous place to be, perhaps even haunted. One thing is certain, the house holds secrets and mysteries which are relevant to James' past. If he stays long enough to solve them, his future may never be the same.Elizabeth Green is categorized as gothic literature which is defined by the combination of horror, death and romance. Stanley Laine has included these elements in perfect portions in a way that reminded me of 1960's horror films. There is a prominent psychological element, though not a pretentious one, that kept this story grounded and believable despite the surreal nature of the circumstances and setting.Stanley Laine's storytelling seems effortless, but not careless. The story stayed on task, served up a number of surprises, and provided a satisfactory ending. The only reason I give it 4* and not 5* is because it was disorienting a time or two due to ill-defined flashbacks to the past and the main character's reaction to a discovery near the end felt out of character... but maybe that was intended because it was a strange house where strange things happen. By no means were either of these “problems” a barrier to enjoying this story. In fact, as I skimmed through the book again before writing this review, I found myself getting hooked into the mysteries despite knowing how it ends.
